Gail F. Schweinhard: July 3, 1948 – Jan. 24, 2018

Gail F. Schweinhard died peacefully at home on Jan. 24, 2018 after battling lung and brain cancer. She was born in Massachusetts to Robert and Dorothy Griffiths. Gail spent her early adulthood in California working in real estate and as a grocery clerk. She moved to Whidbey Island and settled in Oak Harbor in 1990 to be near her mother, Dorothy Griffiths and uncle, Frank Barker and his family. Many may remember her as a grocery clerk at Saar’s Marketplace in Oak Harbor.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling, playing cards and walking the beach with her dog. Gail was known for her witty sense of humor, her love of country music and line dancing. She created and locally sold “Color Our World – Whidbey Island,” a coloring book on some of the history of Whidbey Island.

She is survived by her son Erin of Oak Harbor; her son Scott, daughter in-law, Jen and granddaughters Kayla, Jessie and Sierra of Davenport, Fla.; ex-husband and friend Paul of Davenport, Fla.; brothers Jay Griffiths of Oak Harbor and Peter Griffiths of Seattle. Gail had a deep love of family and friends and will be greatly missed by all of them.
