Dorothy S. Cantrell: Dec. 23, 1935 – March 10, 2017

Dorothy S. Cantrell was born Dec. 23, 1935 in Richmond, Calif., to Harry and “Grandma” Scherbinske. She went to her rest March 10 in Oak Harbor.

She met George Cantrell in Dec. 1956. They were married Feb. 13, 1957 in a little chapel in the hills between San Jose and Santa Cruz, Calif. George said “Dorothy made all the arrangements.”

This Navy family was stationed in Guam, Lemoore, Calif., then Oak Harbor in 1964, where they raised their three children Robert, Linda and Richard.

Dorothy loved cats, butterflies, her family and the needy.

Throughout the years, she served her community, as well as missions in Seattle, in many positions at the Oak Harbor Seventh Day Adventist Church, including School Board Chairperson, Community Services (Dorcas) Leader, Church Secretary, Sabbath School Secretary, Potluck Coordinator and Church Historian.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Winter. She will be missed by her community, friends and family.

She is survived by her husband George, sons Robert and Rick — wife Renata and their children Carmen, Nathan and Megan — and granddaughter Ashley Winter.

Dorothy rests now with the assurance of eternal peace, health and joy when Jesus returns to take her to be with Him in His heavenly home.

There will be a memorial service for Dorothy at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at the Oak Harbor Seventh Day Adventist Church, 31830 State Route 20, Oak Harbor, WA.

A reception will follow.
