Chonita Marion Netto, 97, of Oak Harbor, passed away at her home on Thursday, Feb. 9.

Mrs. Netto was born in Merida, Yucutan, Mexico on April 27, 1919.

She had been employed for many years as a waitress for Denny’s restaurants. To the last day of her life, the iconic “patty melt” remained a favorite dish of hers.

Chonita is survived by her daughter Charmaine Malone of Oak Harbor; by her son James F. Wagner of Oxnard, Calif.; and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.

In keeping with her wishes, no services are planned. Arrangements are with the assistance of Whidbey Memorial.
