Barbara Ann Kern

Barbara Ann Kern, 69, died at Home Place Special Care Center on Feb. 17, 2002, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Kern was born in Spokane on April 9, 1932. She was raised in the Spokane area and graduated from high school in Newport. She continued living in the Spokane area until 1968 at which time she moved to Idaho to reside. Most of the rest of her life was spent in Idaho until moving to Oak Harbor in 1999. Mrs. Kern was the first resident of Home Place Special Care Center.

Mrs. Kern was a life member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, both of Idaho.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Ann Thompson and her husband, Will, of Oak Harbor; daughter, Sheila Marie Kaniska of Spokane; son, Michael James Lenke of Port Townsend; four grandchildren and four brothers.

Private family memorial services were held with inurnment to follow at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. Arrangements were entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
