Albert L. Owens, MCPO, U.S. Navy (Ret.): Dec. 5, 2017

Albert Lloyd “Al” Owens, 82, of Oak Harbor. passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 at Peace Health St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Bellingham, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Rupert, Idaho. Al joined the Navy in 1954 and retired, after 30 years, as a master chief.

He married the love of his life, Sharon Renfro, in 1961 and they recently celebrated 56 years of marriage.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, dedicated Elder at the Oak Harbor Church of Christ and dear friend to many.

Al was a master woodworker who built two custom homes and loved puttering on projects in his woodshop. He enjoyed singing, gardening and skiing.

Al is survived by his wife Sharon; his three children, Kevin (Christie), Darryl (Heather), and Gina (Tracy) Owens, and seven grandchildren.

Al was preceded in death by his sister Sidney, his mother Lucile (Hunter) and his father Houston Owens.

A celebration of life in Al’s name is planned for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at the Oak Harbor Church of Christ.
