Originally from Germany, Heidi immigrated to the United States in 1959. She married Gerald “Jerry” Ackerson of Minnesota that same year and made a life together for 59 years.

She has been a resident of Oak Harbor for the last 39 years.

Together Jerry and Heidi raised four children. She especially loved her family, German music, camping and watching the hummingbirds come to her feeder.

Heidi is survived by her husband Jerry, daughters Liane Mrazik and Heidi “Jane” Wade, sons Roger and Patrick, her sister Annette and brother Dietmar, 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will be holding a private memorial.
