Woman charged for allegedly pointing gun

An Oak Harbor woman is facing charges for pointing a gun at her boyfriend, court documents state.

Prosecutors charged Jackie Towell, 23, in Island County Superior Court March 21 with assault in the second degree and reckless endangerment.

The police were first alerted to the incident by a neighbor who said Towell came to her door holding a handgun and asking to come in his house. The man, who had children home, told her to get off his property.

The next day, the man called police and showed them a surveillance video of Towell armed with a gun at his front door, the police report states.

The police talked to Towell, who admitted to handling the gun. She told police that she was mad at her boyfriend, took the gun out of the safe and pointed it at him, the report states.

An officer secured the gun and found that it was loaded.
