Whidbey woman accused of child molestation

A 26-year-old woman is facing charges for allegedly molesting a teenage girl in Oak Harbor, court documents state.

Carly P. Houghton was charged in Island County Superior Court Nov. 30 with two counts of child molestation in the third degree and one count of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

Houghton is accused of sexually touching a 15-year-old girl at Houghton’s Greenbank home on two occasions in July, the police report states. Houghton was a friend of the girl’s family.

In addition, Houghton is accused of sending sexually suggestive text messages and messages to the girl on the mobile phone application Snapchat, according to court documents.

In convicted of the charges, Houghton could face up to four and a half years in prison under the standard sentencing range.
