Victim, suspect identified in Freeland murder-suicide

The Island County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect and victim in a Jan. 11 murder and suicide near Freeland.

The victim is 31-year-old Natasha Blouin of Freeland.

The suspected shooter is 42-year-old John Meadows of Greenbank.

At about 3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, deputies with the Island County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a child custody exchange on South Whidbey.

Prior to arrival of deputies, Meadows fled the scene with Blouin and their infant child. Meadows shot and killed Blouin a short time later, then killed himself at a location outside of Freeland, the sheriff’s office reported.

The infant is unharmed and safe.

The Island County Sheriff’s Office is not looking for any additional suspects at this time and will release additional information when it becomes available.
