Tricare lost payment information for 45,000 accounts

Tricare officials say payment information for as many as 45,000 accounts has been lost.

Military.com reported that “affected users are retirees who use Tricare Prime and do not pay their annual fee through paycheck allotment and those who use the purchased Tricare Reserve Select, Retired Reserve and Young Adult plans.”

Navy officials urge Tricare users to check bank or credit card statements to ensure their fees for January and February are paid.

Those affected could face disenrollment if payment information is not updated.

For questions, or to update an insurance premium payment method, call Health Net Federal Services at 844-866-9378 or log on to www.tricare-west.com, said a Navy spokesperson.

Tricare changed regional contractors earlier this year and the information was lost in the transition.

If payment isn’t received by the contractor within 150 days of the last payment, the beneficiary would lose the Tricare coverage.

Tricare Prime is a health insurance program offered to active-duty members of the military, retirees, as well as families.
