Island Transit recently received the results of the audit conducted by the Office of the Washington State Auditor Pat McCarthy.

The audit was for Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2017.

The report found that “Transit operations complied with applicable state laws, regulations, and its own policies, and provided adequate controls over the safeguarding of public resources.”

Island Transit was commended by the auditor, who noted, “there were no recommendations in the federal grant compliance audit.”

“This is notable as transit does not regularly receive a significant amount of federal grant funds nor regularly required federal grant compliance audits.”
