Sheriff issues notification of Level 3 sex offender in community

The Island County Sheriff’s Office issued notification to the community that a Level 3 sex offender is living in the area.

David William Walter Green, 20, is required to register with the sheriff’s office in the county of his residence for 10 years, or until notification is no longer required by the courts.

According to official documents, on Sept. 26 Green was found guilty in Thurston County Superior Court of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes and attempted rape in the third degree.

Green, who was 18 at the time, contacted a 13-year-old runaway female in the Tumwater area. Green offered her and a friend a place to stay in a motorhome, according to a release by the sheriff’s office. Green had sex with the girl multiple times, and, on one occasion held her down and placed his left hand around her throat.

Green was convicted in September 2016 of communicating with a minor and attempted rape third degree.

His Level 3 classification is based on his history and other assessments.

Green is under Department of Corrections community supervision.

Green is a white man, 5-foot-10, 150 pounds, and has hazel eyes and brown hair. He is homeless.
