The Sequim High School tennis team spoiled Coupeville’s 2016 home opener by stopping the home team 5-2 Monday, Sept. 12.

The Sequim High School tennis team spoiled Coupeville’s 2016 home opener by stopping the home team 5-2 Monday, Sept. 12.

Coupeville scored its two points with wins in second and third doubles. William Nelson and Joey Lippo earned a 6-3, 6-1 win, while Jimmy Myers and Grey Rische won 7-5, 6-4.

Coupeville dropped all three singles matches: 1, Nick Etzell lost 6-1, 7-6(9-7); 2, Nile Lockwood lost 5-7, 6-1, 10-7; and 3, Jakobi Baumann lost 6-2, 6-1.

Joseph Wedekind and John McClarin fell in first doubles 6-0, 6-2; and Nick Blalock and Aiden Crimmins lost in fourth doubles 6-2, 7-5.

In JV action, Tiger Johnson and Mason Grove won 6-4 and then each teamed with a different partner to grab another set. Johnson and Lockwood teamed up to win 6-1, and Grove and Elliot Johnson won 6-3.
