Sail and Power Squadron offers boating class

The Deception Pass Sail and Power Squadron, in partnership with Oak Harbor Yacht Club, will be presenting the America’s Boating Course in two sessions in the upstairs ballroom of the Yacht Club.

The Deception Pass Sail and Power Squadron, in partnership with Oak Harbor Yacht Club, will be presenting the America’s Boating Course in two sessions in the upstairs ballroom of the Yacht Club.

The sessions are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 10 and 17.

This course is intended as an introduction to boating.  The cost of the class, payable to the Deception Pass Sail and Power Squadron, is $50 per student. Spouses or partners sharing a book will pay an additional $20.

Successfully passing the final examination will qualify students for the Washington State Boater’s Education Card.

The subject matter includes basic boat handling, safety considerations, federal and state equipment and
