Local video production guru Rafael Guzman of Oak Harbor wants to feature your photos in a special Whidbey Island project.

Guzman, owner of RTA Video and Photo Productions, is producing a video that highlights the people and places of Whidbey.

He’s a sailor stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Not long after he and his family moved here, a video he produced of scenic island spots went viral, generating more than 100,000 views on the Internet.

Since then, he’s produced commercials for local businesses and videos of local events, such as the Whidbey Island Kite Festival. His videos are frequently shared on social media, including by the Whidbey News-Times.

“I was trying to think of another video that I could do that wasn’t just cliche landmarks,” he said. “That’s when it came to us … the people!”

He’s looking for anything that shows off Whidbey Island. It doesn’t have to be your family at Deception Pass Bridge.

Guzman is running a business but this video isn’t to sell, he said.

“It’s to see different people and enjoy the video,” he said. “A lot of people liked the Whidbey Island video and I hope they like this too. Obviously, it’s more personal.”

You can submit photos to Guzman by emailing to alocalbiz@gmail.com with “Pictures of Whidbey” in the subject line. He says selfies or group photos are fine, but they must be G-rated and taken on the island. He’ll use the best.

Deadline for submission is end of the day Saturday, May 28.

The video will be posted after the 28th.
