Sometimes laughter is the best medicine.

A couple of Seattle-area comedians will be performing at a special event at Oak Harbor Tavern to raise money for an Oso landslide victim with local ties.

The fundraiser starts 6 p.m. Saturday.

Included in the fundraiser will be a silent auction with items from various restaurants, as well as gift cards for local businesses.

Comedians James Alberding and Morgan Preston will attempt to tickle participants’ funny bones. There will music from the band Monkey Hill, from around 7 p.m. until about 11 p.m., according to Steve Despopoulos, organizer of the event.

People can gobble down burgers grilled by the Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club, with plates of food being sold for $5. “Oso Strong” T-shirts will be on sale for $20.

Despopoulos said that 100 percent of the proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to Seth Jefferds’ family; 10 percent of the tavern’s sales that evening will also be donated to the Jefferds fundraiser.

Jefferds, a volunteer firefighter for the Oso Fire Department, lost his wife, granddaughter and house in the Oso landslide.
