Oak Harbor police are looking for a man who robbed the Subway sandwich shop off Highway 20 Tuesday night.

A man entered the shop around 7:45 p.m. The incident was recorded on a surveillance video. He walked up to the counter and ordered a sandwich — it’s not clear what kind.

A young female employee pulled the bread out, sliced it and began preparing a sandwich, said Detective Manny Silveira.

The man then walked behind the prep counter and demanded the employees open the register. He cleaned out the $164 in the till and left, Silveira said. The man didn’t appear to brandish a weapon.

The employees were not physically harmed, he said, and there were no other customers in the restaurant.

Witnesses describe the man as white and between 5-foot-5 to 6-foot-5 tall. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, dark hooded jacket and dark blue jeans. He may have been wearing gray New Balance running shoes with the letter “N.”

If you recognize the individual in the photos, please call the Oak Harbor Police Department at 360-279-4600. You may also contact Detective Silveira directly by phone at 360-279-4616 or email to him at msilveira@oakharbor.org
