Oak Harbor Music Festival appoints Schelling to board

Oak Harbor Music Festival’s newest board member has professional event-planning experience.

The nonprofit group approved the nomination of Eric Schelling to its Board of Directors, according to a press release from the nonprofit group.

Schelling will take on the role of food vendor director, serving the needs of the dozens of vendors that line Pioneer Way during the festival on Labor Day weekend.

The event draws thousands of visitors to downtown Oak Harbor for three days of free live music.

Schelling, who lives with his family in Anacortes, is a financial advisor with Edward Jones in Oak Harbor. He recently served the Whidbey Golf Club for 10 years as club manager, doing event planning and working with food suppliers for the club’s restaurant.

“I’ve been looking forward to getting more involved in the community,” Schelling said in a press release.

“I’ve been busy, with young kids at home, but the timing is perfect now. I have a passion for music – not as a musician myself, but as a consumer. I’m glad I can help facilitate that for our community.”

Oak Harbor Music Festival’s 2017 lineup kicks off at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 1, and runs through Sunday evening, Sept. 3.

Oak Harbor Music Festival’s mission is to inspire our community with the power of music. The festival has provided scholarships to graduating seniors from all three of Whidbey’s high schools for the past four years.
