Oak Harbor man accused of child molesting

A 27-year-old Oak Harbor man is facing child molestation charges after one of his victims tried to kill herself, according to court documents.

Prosecutors charged Samuel P. Anderson in Island County Superior Court Jan. 4 with two counts child molestation in the second degree, one count child molestation in the third degree and three counts of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

The mother of a 15-year-old girl reported on Christmas day that she believed Anderson molested the girl when the families were neighbors and that he then blackmailed her to get her to send photos of herself, according to the police report.

Another woman found the photos on Anderson’s phone and contacted the girl before Christmas, saying she was going to tell her mother.

As a result, the girl tried to kill herself, the report states.

As a result of the investigation, police found that Anderson allegedly molested two other girls, the report states.

If convicted of the charges against her, Anderson could face up to nine years and eight months in prison under the standard sentencing range.
