Oak Harbor Elementary briefly in lockdown after parent becomes agitated

Authorities briefly put Oak Harbor Elementary School in lockdown today after a parent showed up on campus and acted in “an unsafe manner,” according to a message sent to parents from the principal.

The parent arrived at about noon and became agitated, said principal Dorothy Day. When the incident escalated, school officials called the Oak Harbor Police and the school was locked down as a precaution. At no time was there an immediate safety threat to any students on campus, Day said.

The police arrested the parent and another adult involved. The school is back to normal operations.

Day encouraged parents to contact the school with any questions.
