Navy man charged with possessing child porn

A special agent with the Department of Homeland Security investigated a Navy man last year for allegedly possessing child pornography, according to court documents.

As a result of the investigation, prosecutors charged Paul M. Jung in Island County Superior Court March 27 with two counts of possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

A year ago, the special agent was looking into the distribution of child porn on the BitTorrent file sharing network and was able to download a file depicting child porn from a computer with an IP address later identified as belonging to Jung, according to the agent’s report.

Several agents found Jung on base and interviewed him; he admitted to looking at images of underaged girls, the report states.

The filed from Jung’s computer were sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The agency reported that four images and two videos contained confirmed child victims, the report states.

In convicted of the charges against him, Jung could face more than two years in prison.
