Motorcyclists injured in crash Monday

Two motorcyclists were seriously injured when their Harley Davidson was struck by a pickup on State Highway 20 south of Coupeville on Memorial Day.

The highway was closed in the area of the Outlying Field Coupeville for nearly an hour and a half as the scene was investigated and cleared.

The motorcyclists, a man and a woman, have not been identified by the Washington State Patrol and were still listed as “John Doe” Tuesday morning.

The State Patrol reported that Oak Harbor resident Dolores M. Morris, 59, was driving a 2018 Honda Ridgeline pickup south on the highway. She turned left onto East Squire Road and hit the northbound 2007 Harley Davidson FLSTC.

The collision was reported at 5:44 p.m.

The man, who was driving, and the woman suffered severe injuries and were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. They were both wearing helmets. The motorcycle was totaled.

Morris was not injured.

The State Patrol reported that the cause of the accident was Morris’ failure to yield right-of-way and possible charges against her are pending.
