Port Angeles took advantage of the wind and Coupeville didn’t as the Roughriders defeated the Wolves 3-1 in soccer at Mickey Clark Field Thursday, Oct. 6.

With a strong wind at its back, Port Angeles (4-5) tallied three goals in the first half.

The Wolves dominated possession in the second half but “couldn’t find the back of the net,” coach Troy Cowan said. “We had lots of shots.”

Kalia Littlejohn scored Coupeville’s goal.

“It was a non-conference match against a 2A school, and I thought the girls outplayed them but it didn’t show up on the scoreboard,” Cowan said.

Coupeville (4-2, 6-3-1) has two more non-league games before returning to Olympic League play. It goes on the road to face Sequim (7-3) at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Sequim defeated Coupeville 3-1 Sept. 15.
