Man accused of rape wanted on $100k arrest warrant

A 25-year-old Bellingham man is wanted on a $100,000 warrant on suspicion of rape in the second degree by forcible compulsion, according to court documents.

Carlos A. Martinez is accused of raping a young woman at a North Whidbey beach in August of 2017, the police reports states.

The 18-year-old woman said she repeatedly rebuffed Martinez’ advances. She said Martinez held her down in the sand and raped her, the report states.

Martinez denied raping or having sex with the woman. DNA evidence obtained from the rape kit matched Martinez DNA profile, according to the report.

Police described Martinez as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-6, 120 pounds, brown eyes, black hair and with a scar on left forearm.
