Setting a school single-season scoring record, Mia Littlejohn helped the Coupeville High School soccer team win 5-1 at Mount Vernon Christian Monday, Sept. 19.

Littlejohn, a junior, recorded her second consecutive hat trick and upped her season goal total to 12, breaking the mark of 10 set by her sister, Kalia, last season.

The new record came in only five matches. The Wolves have 11 more games on their schedule plus the postseason.

Kalia Littlejohn, a sophomore, scored the other two Coupeville goals Monday and now has four this season, a pace that would also surpass her record from last fall.

“Mia was just incredible,” coach Troy Cowan said. “She got her three pretty quick in the match and then spent the remainder of the match trying valiantly to get her teammates a goal. Really a well rounded affair for Mia.”

Cowan added that Kalia Littlejohn’s play was “silky smooth.”

While the Littlejohns were taking care of the offense, the “defense played well,” Cowan said, even though starter Lauren Bayne was sidelined in the second half with an injury.

Coupeville (2-0, 3-1-1) plays North Mason (1-1-2) in a non-league match at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at Mickey Clark Field.
