Solidifying its hold on second place in the Olympic League, the Coupeville High School soccer team dumped Port Townsend 4-1 Thursday, Sept. 29, at Mickey Clark Field.

Mia Littlejohn continued her magical season, scoring three goals for the Wolves. This is the fifth time the junior has scored three or more goals in a match this season.

Littlejohn scored one goal off a penalty kick, one was unassisted and the third with the help of Sage Renninger.

Renninger also assisted on Lindsey Roberts’ goal, a rocket shot that zipped by several defenders.

“The defense played awesome,” coach Troy Cowan said, praising the work of Megan DePorter and Mallory Kortuem.

Kortuem drew the defensive assignment of marking the Redhawks’ toughest player, Megan Franklin.

“(Franklin is) the most physical player we see, and Mallory did a fantastic job of neutralizing her.

“Overall, terrific team play and the girls spirits are riding high.”

The Wolves improved to 3-1 (5-2-1); Port Townsend fell to 1-3 (1-6-1).

Coupeville goes to Chimacum (0-3, 1-4) at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4.
