Level 2 sex offender moves to North Whidbey

A Level 2 sex offender will be living on the 3500 block of Taylor Road on North Whidbey, the Island County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Michael J. Rocker, 31, was originally convicted of two counts communicating with minor for immoral purposes in 2002 in Skagit County. He was subsequently convicted three times of failure to register as a sex offender.

As a Level 2 offender, Rocker is considered to have a moderate risk of reoffending.

When Rocker was 16 years old, he sexually assaulted four non-familial girl, between the ages of 8 and 10, while he was babysitting them.

Rocker was accused of threatening one of the victims. After the investigation began, Rocker made a throat-cutting gesture to one of the victims while she was walking to the school bus. He also had three people tell the same girl that he would kill her, the sheriff’s office reported.

Rocker pleaded guilty to the communicating with minor charges and was sentenced to juvenile detention. He is not currently being supervised by the Department of Corrections.

Rocker is described as a white man, 5-foot-8, 425 pounds, with brown hair.
