A detective with the Oak Harbor Police is asking the public for help finding a 48-year-old woman who is a suspect in at least 10 theft and identity theft cases.

Detective Mike Bailey said Kimberly Bastian in a transient who’s been “bouncing around” from residences in Freeland, Coupeville, Oak Harbor and into Skagit County. She’s wanted on two felony warrants for residential burglary and identity theft out of Skagit County.

Bailey said he originally investigated a case in which a man’s wallet was stolen from a business and checks from the wallet were forged. Bastian became a suspect in that case, he said, after she was identified in surveillance video.

Bailey said the investigation into Bastian “snowballed” and he discovered that she may have committed numerous other thefts. In some of the cases in the county, Bastian is suspected of stealing mail to obtain victims’ financial information.

“There’s a minimum of 10 cases and it seems to be growing daily,” he said. “Unless she’s taken off the streets, she may just continue.”

Bastian is described as white woman, five-feet, three-inches tall with green eyes. Bailey said she appears to be much thinner now than in her driver’s license photo.
