Facebook tips lead to arrest

Tips on a Facebook page led to the arrest of a man whom law enforcement described as a violent offender and dangerous.

Deputies with the Island County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jeremy Maddalena, 41, on Sunday after he was found hiding at a Clinton house. He initially refused to come out but surrendered and was taken into custody a short time later, according to the sheriff’s office.

More than 19,000 people viewed the post on the sheriff’s Facebook page asking for help locating Maddalena.

The tips from residents helped deputies find the man, who was wanted on a Department of Corrections arrest warrant for escape from community custody on a robbery charge, the office reported.

Maddalena and his girlfriend are suspects in the theft of alcohol from the Goose Community Grocer, the sheriff’s office reported.

Court records show that Maddalena has a long felony history in Snohomish County. In 2014, he was sentenced to seven years and five months in prison, followed by 18 months of community custody, on charges of robbery in the second degree and possession of a stolen vehicle.
