Day of Prayer

Pastor Rick Karjalainen, who’s also the chaplain for the Island County Sheriff’s Office, gives the benediction at the National Day of Prayer Rally outside the former Island County Courthouse building Thursday. Randy and Kathy Fagan, members of the band that provided the music, listen in the background. About 50 people showed up for the rally, during which pastors and individuals from across the island gave prayers for the nation, public officials, the military, business, families, schools, churches and the media. Many of the prayers focused on the current climate of divisiveness in the country and the need to unite.
