Coupeville High School cross country runners Danny Conlisk and Henry Wynn opened their season at the Carl Westling Invitational Saturday, Sept. 17, in Langley.

Wynn, a junior, placed 70th in 20:17 over the 3.1-mile course. Conlisk, a sophomore, was next across the finish line at 20:19.

The race, for varsity runners from 2A, 1A, 2B and 1B schools, included nearly 100 runners.

Since Coupeville High School doesn’t have its own cross country program, the Wolves have been practicing with South Whidbey and will follow the Falcons’ schedule until the post season.

Next up is an eight-team meet at South Whidbey at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.
