Coupeville hires middle school principal

Several staff members are coming and going at the Coupeville School District with the end of the school year.

The Coupeville School Board approved several resignations, retirements and hiring of new staff.

Geoff Kappes was hired as the new principal for the middle school.

Kappes most recently served as the vice principal for West Middle School in Nampa, Idaho.

He has a master’s degree, and was a teacher in Coupeville from 2004-2007 and served as a coach and leadership advisor.

The board also approved hiring Ashleigh Witmer as a special ed preschool teacher and Chris Smith as the high school basketball coach.

Peg Tennant resigned as the drama advisor after serving 20 years and paraeducator Lilian Poulsen and bus driver Linda West-Cronin retired.
