Oak Harbor Police arrested a 28-year-old man on vehicle theft charges Monday morning in front of a home in the 2000 block of Crosswoods Drive.

Both police and Island County Sheriff deputies ended up in front of the house around 11 a.m., which police have served narcotics search warrants on in the past, said Sgt. Bill Wilke.

First police received a call about a vehicle stolen from a local business. About an hour later, residents of a home on the corner of Heller Road and Swantown reported that someone had abandoned a truck in their driveway, and left on foot. They gave a description of the people in the truck to police.

On a hunch, Wilke headed to the home on nearby Crosswoods Drive. He saw the two suspects and gave chase to one. A sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene and chased the other, who was eventually taken into custody.
