A 25-year-old Oak Harbor man is accused of raping a grade-school girl nearly three years ago, court documents indicate.
Prosecutors charged 25-year-old Christopher Miller in Island County Superior Court March 5 with rape of a child in the first degree. He pleaded not guilty March 22.
Detective Mike Bailey with the Oak Harbor Police investigated the allegation after an 8-year-old girl told an adult that Miller had sexually molested her, Bailey wrote in his report.
In a taped interview with police, Miller admitted that he had sexual contact with the girl when he was babysitting the children in the family in 2007, according to court documents. He said the girl was 7 or 8 years old at the time, the report states.
Miller told police that he suffered similar abuse as a teenager. He told the detective he was willing to get help for his problem, the report states.
