Several members of Coupeville’s Design Review Board agreed to have their terms extended as the volunteer board finishes its final few months as an entity.

Mayor Nancy Conard said during a recent Town Council meeting that it was best to extend the three members’ terms until the end of the year rather than finding new volunteers.

The terms for Chuck Poust, Jill Usher and Linda Richards expired in July but they will now continue serving. Carol Thrailkill’s term also expired but Conard said Thrailkill chose to end her service.

Officials from Coupeville, Island County and the National Park Service are partnering to develop new design regulations for Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve.

The proposed regulations would eliminate the town’s Design Review Board and the County’s Historic Review Committee and replace them with a single Historic Review Commission that would serve both the town along with the county properties located within the reserve.
