Deer collision sends Oak Harbor man to hospital

An Oak Harbor man was hospitalized Tuesday morning when his motorcycle struck a deer in Skagit County.

The Washington State Patrol reported that at 7:36 a.m., Paul V. McElroy, Jr., was riding his Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Highway 20, just south of Dewey Beach Drive between Campbell Lake and Pass Lake. A deer entered the roadway and was struck.

McElroy, 52, suffered unspecified injuries and was transported by ambulance to Island Hospital in Anacortes. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
