A 22-year-old Oak Harbor man was arrested for assaulting a former friend at the skate park Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Oak Harbor Police Chief Rick Wallace said the two men got into an argument at the skate park on SE Jerome Street just after 5 p.m. The suspect kneed the 20-year-old victim in the face and kicked him in the face, Wallace said.

The victim reportedly sustained bruises on his temple and his head was bleeding, but the police chief said the injuries didn't appear to be life threatening. The victim wasn't transported to the hospital.

Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of second-degree assault.

Wallace said several people witnessed the assault. The nearby ballfield and the parking lot for the swimming pool were filled with children at the time of the incident.
