Islanders still have a chance to comment on the new Greenbank Farm Comprehensive Plan before it is adopted.

Two of the major initiatives proposed by the comprehensive plan are to create a conservation easement protecting the farm’s open space and construction of a new multi-use building.

The Port of Coupeville held two public meetings last week on Central Whidbey. Executive Director Jim Patton said approximately 30 people attended the first meeting at the Greenbank Progressive Club and five people attended the second one at the Service Alternatives Building in Coupeville.

Even though Patton said no big issues arose from the public meetings and no further public meetings are scheduled, people can comment until Aug. 1. Send comments by mail to the Port of Coupeville, P.O. Box 577, Coupeville, WA 98239, or by email to execjim@verizon.net. Or, call the port office at 678-5020.

A draft of the Greenbank Farm Comprehensive Plan is available online. Visit www.portofcoupeville.org and click “About.”

The port commissioners scheduled to adopt the plan at their meeting Wednesday, Aug. 12.
