A 44-year-old Oak Harbor woman is going to jail for bashing her boyfriend in the head with a baseball bat.

Sherry Gordon pleaded guilty in Island County Superior Court April 6 to assault in the second degree with a deadly weapon.

Judge Alan Hancock agreed with the sentence recommended by the prosecution and defense under a plea bargain. He sentenced Gordon to six months in jail, which is the middle of the standard sentencing range.

Also, Hancock ordered Gordon to pay $1,217 in fines and fees.

Last December, Gordon and her 53-year-old boyfriend got into an argument at their E. Whidbey Avenue apartment. The man tore up a gift certificate.

In a rage, Gordon grabbed a baseball bat and hit a lamp, then started hitting him, court documents state.

When officer arrived, they found the man, covered in blood, sitting outside in the snow. He had a deep, jagged laceration on the back of his head.
