Weather cancels Whidbey events

Snow and ice have prompted the cancellation of numerous events scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 17. Here is a partial list. Anyone who wants something listed should email editor@whidbeynewstimes.com.

• The Island County Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Dec. 17 on Camano Island has been canceled. Planning Director Jeff Tate said it will be rescheduled at a later date.

• A meeting of the Island County Commissioners and Community Health Advisory Board scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Dec. 17 in Coupeville has been canceled.

• All activities have been postponed at the Oak Harbor First United Methodist Church Dec. 17, including Children's Christmas Program and Choir Practice and choir practice, until Sunday at 6 p.m.

• The Fidalgo Youth Symphony is postponing their Christmas Concert Dec. 17 at the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, for a later date.

• Oak Harbor Schools Superintendent Rick Schulte said events and sports games at local schools will be cancelled tonight, Dec. 17, including the girls basketball game at Oak Harbor High School.

• December's Chamber Membership Luncheon, scheduled for today, Thursday, Dec. 18, has been cancelled because of unsafe driving conditions.
