PUD backers offer forums
People for Yes on Whidbey PUD is holding two public forums this week to introduce the public utility district commissioner candidates and discuss the costs associated with creating a public utility district.
Commissioner candidates have already filed for election and will be available at the forums to answer questions.
The only candidate for District 1 (North Whidbey) is Marshall Goldberg.
Pat Harmon and Brien Lillquist are running for Central Whidbey’s District 2 position.
District 3, South Whidbey, candidates are Georgia Gardner and Dave Arnold.
Forums will be held today, Sept. 3, at the Oak Harbor Elks Club and Thursday, Sept. 4 at Freeland’s Trinity Church. Both forums run from 7 to 9 p.m.
Voters will decide in November whether to create a PUD on Whidbey Island to take over electrical services from Puget Sound Energy.
