Holland Happeners should take notice of the pieces of art in store windows on Pioneer Way.

Students in Oak Harbor elementary schools produced the art as part of the annual Artwalk.

“It’s to show off the work the students have done,” said Carla Field, art teacher at Hillcrest Elementary School. “It’s a great opportunity to show what we’re teaching.”

Each of the six elementary schools contributed between 200 and 300 pieces. The art is displayed in storefronts on Pioneer Way from Ely Street to Hathaway Steet. Paintings and drawings comprise most of the art displays, however, Field said two of the store fronts are used for three-dimensional pieces.

Students and parents had a chance to meet with each other Thursday evening during a reception at the Big Cup Espresso and Gift Shop. The art will remain in store windows throughout Holland Happening.
