The intersection of Highway 20 and Erie Road claimed two more vehicles Tuesday morning.

Shawn Demessemaker said he was driving his green Pontiac Sunfire westbound on Highway 20 when a black Pontiac Grand Prix attempted to make a left turn onto Erie Road.

“It was like a big bang and all of a sudden I got thrown around,” Demessemaker said. “I had to crawl out the window since the door wouldn’t open.”

A passenger in the Sunfire, Stephanie Huerta, suffered bruising and aches and pains, Demessemaker said. Crews transported her to Whidbey General where she is in stable condition.

Oak Harbor Police Officer Robert Dickinson said it was not yet clear on who was at fault as the accident was still under investigation.

“They’re both saying they had the right light, but witnesses say otherwise,” Dickinson said.

He would not say if any citations would be given. The occupants of the Grand Prix were examined by paramedics, but were not transported.
