Feds indict couple for child porn
An Oak Harbor couple was recently indicted by a federal grand jury in U.S. District Court in Seattle on charges related to child pornography.
James Lee Wright, 30, and Tracey L. Wright, 29, were both charged Aug. 21 with receipt of material involving the sexual exploitation of children and possession of material involving the sexual exploitation of children.
James Lee Wright was also charged with the more serious charge of production of material involving the sexual exploitation of children. The indictment states that Wright compelled a boy under the age of 12 into sexually explicit conduct with him for the purpose of producing visual depictions.
James and Tracey Wright, who are being tried together, were arraigned in court Thursday and both pleaded not guilty to the charges. They are being held without bail. Their trial is set for Nov. 12.
The Wrights were arrested this spring after the FBI served a search warrant on their mobile home at the north end of Oak Harbor. The special agents seized a computer that allegedly contained hundreds of images of child pornography, including images of an adult man molesting an infant.
One image depicts a person who appears to be James Wright in bed with a minor boy, according to the U.S. Attorneys Office.
The FBI started looking at the Wrights during an investigation into Donald Leroy Keffler, a 41-year-old Everett man who allegedly took a bus to California to have sex with an 11-year-old girl he met over the Internet. Keffler told an informant that he had been teaching the couples five-year-old son to perform sex acts and that Tracey Wright ran Internet child porn sites, according to an affidavit written by an FBI agent out of Silverdale.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathryn Warma said the FBI is interested in talking to anyone who might have information about the case.
We have a lot of pictures of kids and we dont know who the kids are, she said. We want to identify them and make sure they are safe.
