"A Central Whidbey family lost their home to fire last Friday night.A State Trooper reported the fire at around 8:30 p.m. after he noticed the flames while driving by the Race Road home, not far from the Race Road fire station. But when firefighters with Central Whidbey Fire and Rescue arrived just minutes later, they found the single-story home completely engulfed in flames. Only the white picket fence that surrounds the home was untouched by fire as firefighters shot water at the house that night.Fortunately, the residents were not at home. Capt. Rob Spinner said that the cause of the fire is unknown, but the Sheriff's Office is investigating. He said the firefighters didn't have any trouble putting out the flames, though they weren't able to save the house.Spinner said the firefighters were on the scene for about three hours. "
