Police on lookout for alleged drug criminal

"There's a $10,000 bench warrant out on a 55-year-old Oak Harbor man wanted for alleged cocaine possession.Brent Gower was charged with possession of a controlled substance on Oct. 6. Island County Superior Court Judge Vicki Churchill approved the warrant after Gower didn't show at a Oct. 27 hearing.According to the affidavit of probable cause written by Officer Larry Ferguson, he saw Gower driving a pickup in Oak Harbor March 3. He ran the registration and discovered that Gower had an outstanding warrant for negligent driving.Ferguson wrote that Gower parked his pickup and walked on foot, but he followed him to the area near the court house. He saw Gower take off his jacket and duck behind a car, then walk away without the jacket. Ferguson stopped Gower and then went to check the car.According to Ferguson, he found the jacket stuck up underneath the front axle of the car. He wrote that he pulled it out and a plastic bag containing several chunks of a white substance fell out.The white substance was sent to the Washington State Patrol crime lab for analysis. It turned out to be 4.2 grams of cocaine. "
