Oak Harbor man faces gun threat charge
"A 52-year-old Oak Harbor man is facing a felony assault charge for allegedly threatening a Langley resident with a gun during an argument involving the man's daughter.Steven Baker was charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon in Island County Superior Court June 21. If convicted, he could face between three and nine months in jail.According to Island County Deputy Darren Crownover, Baker was apparently upset that his daughter was visiting a man on Lakeside Drive in Langley June 16. Baker allegedly drove to the man's home in his Mercedes, pointed a gun at the man who came out into the driveway and asked where his daughter was.Crownover wrote that he stopped Baker on Goss Lake Road and found a loaded, half-cocked pistol in the car. Baker later admitted having the gun but said he didn't point it, according to Crownover.Judge Alan Hancock released Baker from jail June 21 with the condition that he have no contact with the alleged victim."
