Goff pleads not guilty

"A 44-year-old Oak Harbor man accused of sexually assaulting his 12-year-old stepdaughter recently pleaded not guilty to a child molestation charge.Johnny Goff was charged with second-degree child molestation, for alleged sexual contact with someone at least 12 but less than 14 years old, in Island County Superior Court June 15.The standard range for the charge is a year and three months to a year and eight months is prison.According to court papers, the girl ran away to a friend's house June 13 and told her friend that her stepfather, Goff, had been molesting her regularly. The friend told her mother, who in turn reported it to the police.In an interview with police, the girl said that Goff - who has lived with her family for seven years - started sexually touching her, exposing himself and masturbating in front of her since last Christmas.The girl said she doesn't have a bedroom but sleeps on the couch in the living room, where she said Goff molested her. She told police that Goff told her not to tell anyone because he would go to jail and get killed.Goff is being held on $25,000 bail. The alleged victim obtained a domestic violence protection order as a condition of Goff's release. His trial is set for July 18."
