Woman pleads guilty to drug charges

"A 19-year-old Oak Harbor woman arrested during a joint drug operation of the Oak Harbor Police and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service recently pleaded guilty in Island County Superior Court.Danielle Broom was charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine April 15. She pleaded guilty to the charge June 9.Island County Superior Court Judge Alan Hancock sentenced Broom to a year and nine months in prison, which is the minimum time under the standard sentence range.Broom sold crack cocaine to an undercover NCIS special agent in the Wal-Mart parking lot March 23.At the culmination of the investigation, the so-called Special Response Team led by Oak Harbor Police Sgt. Tim Sterkel served nine search warrants at local houses, apartments and a hotel early April 15.The officers arrested 19 local adults - four women and 15 men - for a variety of drug related crimes.During the operation, Sterkel said investigators found evidence of crack manufacturing. They seized hundreds of dollars worth of marijuana, crack and powder cocaine, $10,000 in cash, two handguns and six cars."
