"SheriffThe following items were selected from reports made to the Island County Sheriffs Office:Tuesday, Jan. 4At 11:20 a.m., a man reported finding a very emaciated, dirty horse grazing on the side of Reservation Road. The animal control officer reported that the horse had recently been purchased at an auction by a Whidbey man who felt sorry for the horse. A vet said the horse was malnourished but would likely survive. It was returned to the owner.At 4:04 p.m., a vacant house was reportedly vandalized on Paul Avenue.At 4:33 p.m., a resident reported seeing a 9-year-old boy walking with an ax on Childrens Avenue. The boy said his father gave him the ax and told him to cut down some trees.Wednesday, Jan. 5At 5:29 p.m., a burglary was reported on Ledgewood Beach Road. The door was kicked in. A bow and arrow and a bottle of liquor were stolen.Thursday, Jan. 6At 3:18 p.m., a Zylstra Road resident reported that a man dressed in camouflage with a ski mask was firing a shotgun near his property.At 6:42 p.m,. a CPS agent reported that a 1-year-old baby had extreme bruising on her buttocks.At 7:20 p.m., a woman reported that her estranged husband assaulted their 19-month-old child.At 8:51 p.m., a possible propane leak was reported on Jordan Court.OAK HARBOR POLICEThe following items were selected from reports made to the Oak Harbor Police Department:Monday, Jan. 3At 9:12 a.m., a N.E. Sumner Drive resident reported that a lighted penguin was stolen.At 9:52 a.m., a child rape was reported.At 8:01 p.m., a gun was reported stolen from a N.E. Second Avenue home.Tuesday, Jan. 4 At 5:30 p.m., a S.W. Sixth Avenue resident reported the theft of garden items from her porch.At 7:31 p.m., the 7-11 North reported a leaking gas pump.Wednesday, Jan. 5At 9:45 a.m., a bus driver reported being threatened by a high school student.At 12:46 p.m., a burglary was reported on N.W. Rigging Street.At 3:33 p.m., an employee at Maurices reported that smoke was coming out of a wall outlet.At 6:02 p.m., a 13-year-old child reported a domestic dispute between her mother and mothers boyfriend.At 7:18 p.m., a N.E. Barron Drive resident reported that boys were throwing eggs onto her balcony and threatening her son.At 8:59 p.m., a man reported catching two men inside a secure area on N. Oak Harbor Street. A fence had been cut.WASHINGTON STATE PATROLThe following items were selected from reports made to the State Patrol:Saturday, Jan. 1At 2:30 a.m., a one-car accident was reported on Cornet Bay Road. Tamara Fortin, 22, of Bellingham was driving a 1991 Subaru and crossed the centerline. She drove with the left wheel off the roadway then struck a tree, a telephone pole and eight mailboxes. She suffered leg, arm and head injuries. Her passenger, Oak Harbor resident Shelly Hammond, was not injured.Thursday, Jan. 6At 5:35 p.m., a two-car accident was reported on Highway 20 near Ducken Road. Roy Scott, 23, of Oak Harbor was driving a 1988 Toyota pickup southbound on the highway and crossed the centerline, striking a 1999 Freightliner van driven by 40-year-old Karoly Vicze of Coupeville. Scott suffered leg injury and minor cuts and bruises. Vicze was not injured."
